Pu'er tea is divided into raw and cooked teas. The production process of the two types is different, and their tastes are also different. Raw tea is cold in nature, while cooked tea is mild in nature. Each has its own preference. Does that mean you can’t drink cooked tea in summer? Otherwise, the more you drink it, the hotter it will be. Is this really the case? Is summer suitable for drinking cooked tea? Let’s learn some common sense about drinking cooked tea. The content of this article is for reference only:

Is summer suitable for drinking cooked tea?

Some people think that summer is not suitable for drinking cooked tea because it is hot in summer, and ripe tea is red and feels hot to the senses. In fact, it is a taken-for-granted view, and the reality may not be so intuitive. First of all, cooked tea is not hot in nature. Tea is originally cold in nature. After fermentation, cooked tea is no longer cold, and is considered warm in nature at most. So drinking cooked tea will not be hotter. In addition, the current environment has changed with the widespread use of air conditioners. People wear thin clothes in summer, but many people have air conditioners in their homes, offices, restaurants, and cars. The ambient temperature is very low. In this case, drinking some cold tea is actually even more unreasonable. Therefore, whether summer is suitable for drinking cooked tea must be based on each person’s physical constitution, living and working environment.

Some people say that drinking cooked tea will cause you to get angry and have diarrhea. What’s going on?

This situation does exist, but getting angry is not necessarily a bad thing. Traditional Chinese medicine has a saying of "expressing it" and "suppressing it". Getting internal heat, blisters, and small sores are all considered "expressing it", which is also a process of treatment and conditioning. From this perspective, not only does it not necessarily mean that you are not suitable for drinking cooked tea, you must insist on drinking it. Once it "comes out", the toxins have been eliminated, and the body is in harmony, it will naturally stop getting angry. Some people will also experience mild diarrhea when they are new to cooked tea. This is the same as getting angry. The symptoms will disappear naturally after a day or two of adjustment.

Can you drink cooked tea when it’s cold?

What about overnight? Cooked tea can be drunk after it is cooled, and it has a unique flavor. Theoretically, cooked tea has been oxidized and will not be oxidized again, so it will not deteriorate like green tea overnight. Can drink. Speaking from personal experience, my friends and I have drank overnight cooked tea many times without any adverse reactions.

Why do some cooked teas taste sour?
There are several reasons for the sourness of cooked tea. The first is the selection of raw materials. Younger tea is prone to sourness. This is a problem that is more likely to occur in spring tea, with whole buds and one bud and one leaf; second, excessive water; third, the degree of fermentation is light, less than 70%, and the probability of sour tea is very high; fourth, the fermentation temperature is low, the temperature of the pile cannot rise, and the tea is not easy to mature, so it is easy to cause light fermentation.

Sour cooked tea is not pleasant to drink, so it is best to give it up, but if you really can't bear it, you can try to store it for a period of time. The sourness may be eliminated during the natural post-fermentation process. It’s hard to say how long it will take, maybe 3 years, 5 years, or 10 years. And this is only a possibility, not a certainty.

How to distinguish raw tea from cooked tea?
Distinguish by color: raw tea is usually dark green or gray green, which depends on the specific tea; cooked tea is reddish brown, or even brown and yellow, which is mainly affected by the degree of fermentation in Wodu, and newly produced ripe tea will have a grayish feeling.

Distinguish by the color of the tea soup: the color of the tea soup brewed from raw tea is transparent yellow-green or golden yellow; the tea soup made from cooked tea is chestnut or reddish brown, or even almost black. If the fermentation is not sufficient, it will be a little light yellow. As the degree of fermentation of old tea in raw tea deepens, the yellow color of the tea soup becomes lighter, the red color deepens, and finally it becomes red and bright, and there will be oil and gas on the surface of the tea soup.

Distinguish from the smell: raw tea smells of the refreshing aroma of the tea itself, while cooked tea has a special aged aroma. If the old tea in the wet warehouse or the fermentation in the fermentation pile is not mastered, it will also have a bit of musty smell.

Judging from the taste: the taste of raw tea is very similar to green tea, with a bitter and astringent taste; the taste of cooked tea is smooth, sweet and refreshing, with an obvious aftertaste.

The above common knowledge about cooked tea is a simple understanding. Whether it is suitable to drink in summer depends on whether you like it, or whether your body feels any discomfort after drinking it. These can only be known by yourself. It does not mean that others are not suitable, and you are not suitable for drinking. Drinking tea is to choose what you like and suitable. This is the way to drink tea!
